The neighborhood, honestly

Chico is the largest city in Butte County, with a population of roughly 100,000. It was laid out in 1860 by John Bidwell, whose Rancho Chico became the heart of the city and whose donated land became Bidwell Park.

California State University, Chico — founded in 1887 and one of the oldest campuses in the CSU system — sits directly adjacent to downtown, which keeps the core walkable, busy, and full of independent restaurants, bars, and shops year-round.

Neighborhoods run from historic Avenues bungalows and the tree-lined Mansion Park district to newer subdivisions in northwest Chico and estate properties out toward the canyon and Butte Creek.
